Watch Tom Hiddleston Invade A Small Town Rock Festival, Sing As Hank Williams

It was back in June that it was announced that The Avengers star Tom Hiddleston had been cast to play the lead in an upcoming biopic about famous country western singer Hank Williams. The film isn't actually heading into production until next month, but the actor recently decided to give an audience a sneak peek at what we can expect - and now you can watch it yourself thanks to the embed you'll find above.

The performance (which comes to us thanks to YouTube user BJMallory) was an unnanounced event at Michigan’s Wheatland Music Festival, which is actually strangely far away from where the Hank Williams biopic, titled I Saw The Light, will be filming (the production is all set to go down in Louisiana). For those of you who don't recognize the tune, Hiddleston is singing Williams' hit "Move It On Over," which the singer-songerwriter first wrote and performed all the way back in 1947. While the video above doesn't feature Hiddleston singing the entire track, you can still compare it to the Williams studio recorded version below:

Set to be based on the 1994 non-fiction book Hank Williams: The Biography and set to be both written and directed by producer Marc Abraham, I Saw The Light will tell the story of Hank Williams rise to fame and all of the hardships that came along with it. Over the course of his career, Willaims recorded a number of songs that will live on forever - either through his own recordings or though covers - but sadly his career didn't last long. The country star died at the young age of 29 due to a combination of alcoholism and conditions relating to spina bifida, a disorder he was born with.

After a big 2013 that included titles like Thor: The Dark World and the festival run of Jim Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive, Hiddleston's 2014 has been rather quiet - though he did do a cameo in Muppets Most Wanted and voiced a young Captain Hook in the animated direct-to-video feature Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy. He has a big 2015 coming up, as in addition to I Saw The Light he also has Guillermo del Toro's haunted house horror Crimson Peak and Ben Wheatley's sci-fi thriller High-Rise. Beyond that, he also has been rumored as the top choice for an in-development Ben-hur remake (dated for February 26, 2016), and he will presumably be coming back as Loki in Thor 3 - though that film doesn't currently have a release date just yet.
